Sharpening the Saw

Abraham Lincoln said that if you want to cut down a tree, you must first sharpen your saw.  Former President Harry S. Truman once said, “Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.”

Even though many professionals in our line of work may not “see eye to eye” on certain topics, one thing that we should all agree on is the importance of investing in yourself.  An ongoing education is crucial to stay that “step” ahead of the competition in any business, and in our profession, it’s no different.

So, with that said, I suggest this list of three “Must-Read” books intended for anyone in the Real Estate business.

1.      Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kivosaki
You can’t go wrong with reading anything by this guru of the business, but this one is at the top of the list. One critic made the statement, “What a different life most of us would’ve had if the classics we read in high school were replaced with this book.” The possibilities are endless and required reading for real estate investors, whether you are a novice or an expert in the field. This classic among investors contains an amazing amount of life-changing, thought-provoking content. Another reader commented, “Read it as soon as you can, and then give it to your kids to read!”

2.      What Every Real Estate Investor Needs to Know About Cash Flow by Frank Gallinelli
Yes, it’s about numbers. Yes, it’s a book about math. But, if you don’t understand the main principles Gallinelli discusses in his book, you will never be successful in this business. Remember, investing in income properties is ALL about the numbers. The presentation is entertaining and he makes the math easy to get!

3.      Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller
This should be in every real estate investor’s book collection. It represents the wisdom, insight, and experience of over 100 millionaire investors from all walks of life. Each one chased and captured wealth and gained the life-changing freedom it delivers. As a serious read for serious investors, it is a straight forward and to the point, but actually easy to read, revealing the millionaire’s proven strategies.

Now you just need to find the time in your busy life to read these!
